Echols committed sexual assault and murder on three eight-year olds... he wouldn't last long in general population. His Hollywood "connections" wouldn't have helped him too much in that crowd, either.

Sexual assault doesn't always leave DNA.

Apart from that, it depends on the definition of "sexual assault".

Whether you believe the children were sodomised or not, they were DEFINITELY sexually assaulted.

Sexual assault, I would presume, would be stripping someone and "hog typing" them, at the least.

There is nothing indefinite about THAT.
