Does anybody have any sales figures of this book? How much Echols made off of it? And out of curiosity, does Arkansas have any type of Son of Sam laws to prevent criminals from profiting on their crimes?

And Todd, if you read this, did you ever consider filing a civil suit against the three?

Considering the book wasn't about his involvement in the crime, I don't know if those laws would apply.  By the way, I never read the book.  I'm just basing that off of what people have said.

Yeah, I haven't read it either but according to some of the reviews I've read, he talks about the trial and life in prison, not to mention the fact that no one would honestly give a shit about his biography if he hadn't of been convicted of murdering three children.

And like with the way Goldberg has made OJ's life miserable, a successful civil suit would make Echols responsible even in the small chance that he was ever freed. I don't know how the statute of limitations work with that though. I know murder has no statute of limitation but I don't know if that applies civilly as well.

Appears the statute of limitations is way expired as well, that's a shame.

I'm sure Jacki asked Nons to find out everything they could about what kind of money her and Mark could get out of people profiting from the murders.

And this may have been discussed then.

I think mainly they were thinking of going after Elizabeth Fowler and the film company. I don't think Jacki mentioned seeking financial compensation for the other parents, just her and Mark.
That may have changed though. I suspect they could do something about Mara.

I figured my questions weren't too original, Sheer. Especially concerning the SOS laws and Civil suits.

But, if anyone could find sales figures for Almost Home, I'd still be grateful.

I'm guessing it sold under 10,000 copies, leaning closer to 6-8. I'm guessing supporters are more vocal, than numerous, giving the impression that there's more than there actually are.

No, I didn't read it, I doubt I could read more than a few paragraphs before tossing it through a window.

It is kind of funny though, he trys to sound so pathetic.

Margaret Cho helped him get the book published, from what I read he was a little pissed that the book didn't do better I guess he thought he had a number one seller on his hands. For awhile on the borg when the book first came out they were telling people  to buy the book so Damien would be happy. They should have a puke icon here.  Cho paid for the publishing, so he did not make a hell of a lot on the book.

For those that haven't read it and don't wish to purchase it, I stumbled across this link to Almost Home, where you can read it online.

Oh and Rudder, try not to toss your computer through a window.  :D

I never read it, but I just started scanning through this "preview."  Damien says he lived at the Mayfair apartments during kindergarten....  THE Mayfair Apartments???  In the back of my mind I think this has been brought up and answered before, but I can't remember....

Yes, he mentioned it in his testimony as well.

(that he lived in the victim's neighborhood when he was a child)

He mentioned it, but I thought he mentioned living on McCauley (sp?).  Living at Mayfair is like saying "I lived as close as possible to the murder site."

Funny that he would name Mayfair instead of just saying "run down apartment complex."  He barely has anything to offer about that period in time other than naming the apartment complex.
