It's easy for Riordan or any lawyer to quit he has to have permission from the judge.
Jan is correct, with one caveat. If an attorney is appointed or retained for a pending case, or in the course of their employment the matter has been filed with the court, they must file a Motion to Withdraw if they wish to be officially withdrawn as counsel of record. A Motion/Entry of Withdraw must also be filed if they are "fired" by the client. The court may deny the motion and require the attorney to finish the case. In my experience, there are very few cases of attorneys asking to withdraw that the motion is denied. I have seen numerous clients "fire" a court appointed attorney and the court required them to stay on the case.

If there is no case pending before the court (such as drafting a will, a contract, incorporating a business, etc), the parties can agree to terminate the fee agreement without court approval, the attorney can quit or the client can fire the attorney.  There may be issues over a possible breach of contract, retainer return or some other issue, but that is usually resolved before the ethics tribunal or through a lawsuit.

NOBODY works for free when they are expecting to be paid ..

Hey jusjulie....

I realize you're a babbling fucking idiot and all, but you ARE aware that Riordan sits on the advisary board of the Northern California innocence project, right?

http://law.scu.edu/ncip/ncip-advisory-board.cfm

You know - those pro-bono folks?

As he said, his forte' is Federal Habeas Corpus - in primarily capital cases.

Just how often do you suppose he expects to be paid by death row inmates?

Be sure and brush your teeth when you finally pull your head out of your ass.

Lol
But I knew an attorney couldn't just quit a case...as Jan pointed out, the judge has to approve it.

So where IS all the money going?

Flex, my opinion has nothing to do with Lorri or any of these 'big wigs' who are trying to get rich off of this case .. IMO they have all these high dollar celebs backing them .. let them give'em money .. why take money from my kids to give them? .. does that sound rude? .. to be honest, I don't care ..lol .. I won't send them any money .. If I had extra money and wanted to send it to someone, I would rather take it to the battered womens shelter or take some kids who are less fortunate out to eat ..

Just sayin...

But I think it is absolutely terrible that the PR machine has lied and duped so many into giving...let's face it, we are not as informed as we think we are

now lemme be honest .. I have given my time .. but not because of some hype that has been caused ..  I hope that they get a new trial so that a lot of unanswered questions that I have may be answered .. do I think there was enough evidence to convict to death .. NO .. I don't know at this point who's guilty and I hope that before I leave this earth that that question is answered for me .. could it have been the three .. sure .. could it have been JMB? .. yes .. or many other shady characters who weren't investigated 100% .. and that's what doesn't sit well with me ..

But, for me to give them money while they have all these millionaires speaking out for them .. that seems silly .. it seems silly that anyone would .. I hope that makes sense ..

My opinion on this, flex, is that if anyone is enough of a fucking idiot to give money to three men convicted of murdering three children without doing a lot of research, then they are idiots.

See, I can agree with some supporters.

Doesn't mean I have to like them, or what they do.

why would hate, or in your case, "not like them", just because you ? the investigation. At this point it does not really matter. It is not in your hands, ant. God forgives and I hope I go to judgement before you. God will be in a bad mood after judging you.God: Did you forgive? FARM: no; God: see ya(pulls the chute). Later joke, you really need your own HBO show, cause you suck.

Dude, I don't know who your God is, but my God doesn't take too kindly to passing judgement on others. You should keep that stuff to yourself.

Where is justice for the real 3?

« Reply #57 on: November 20, 2010, 04:43:22 PM »

^^  Thank you Steph... my God doesnt judge either. Just because Farm doesnt forgive someone doesnt mean he is going to hell WOW  talk about hypocrit.  Telling you..love it when they put their foot in their mouth. :D

Julie..i totally agree with what you say about not giving your money to the support fund. They have alot of celebrities backing them..with alot of money..so why go after those that dont have that money.  I can totally respect your questioning the convictions and respect the fact that your not supporting freeing 3 convicted child murderers. Just wanted to say.

My opinion, maybe the courts or the state or whoever feels ok, this has been going on long enough, lets show the new evidence that BOTH sides have and prove once and for all these boys need to be where they are.
