I hope so, because what is said in affidavits is often misrepresented in the petitioner's Writ.

No, the affidavits were "sealed" by the Defense.

And as pointed out in the recent AG article it wasn't nesessary at all:

The reporter’s statement was entered under seal because it contains the name of the jury foreman. Jurors are identified in public documents by numbers.

But the name of the jury foreman is no secret. Juror No. 4, aka Kent Arnold, spoke to the Democrat-Gazette in 2000 and again on Tuesday.

And more importantly, the Defense has been "misrepresenting" these affidavits to the press for years - which should clear up any confusion as to why they filed them under seal.

Thanks, Farm.  Just for starters, I'd like to see Joyce Cureton's (Jason's art teacher) affidavit, because the snippets I've read sound preposterous on several levels.  She claims that "it was my understanding that I'd be fired if I told the authorities that Jason was in school that day." 

First of all, there were hundreds of people, plus attendance records, to verify that fact.  The police didn't need Cureton to tell them that Jason was in school May 5th.  Secondly, she says "it was my understanding..."  which means she may have - and probably did - misunderstand the principal.

I'm betting that this is what happened:  Jason's school was under a media attack.  The principal, acting on advice from legal counsel, asked or even instructed  all the teachers not to speak to the media.  A wise decision, considering the high-profile nature of this crime and possible repurcussions if incorrect information was given out.

Fifteen years later, the defense "suggests" to Joyce Cureton that "it was her understanding" that a pink slip was hanging over her head.

And there you have it.  Witness intimidation!
