I just wanted to post this for Miranda, as I remember awhile back that she put this in the "fable" category.  I knew that I had it somewhere but couldn't begin to remember where.  I ran across it tonight and wanted to post it for her.  Not to get anything started with her, but thought that she might want to read it, or not.


Statement of: Joe Houston Bartoush, Jr.

On 10-27-92 I was at Lakeshore Trailer Park with Damien Echols when he killed a Black Great Dane. The dog was already sick and he hit the dog in the back of the head. He pulled the intestines out of the dog and started stomping the dog until blood came out of his mouth. He was going to come back later with battery acid so that he could burn the hair and skin off of the dog's head. He had two cat skulls, a dog skull and a rat skull that I already knew about. He kept these skulls in his bedroom at Jack Echols house in Lakeshore. He was trying to make the eyeballs of the dog he killed pop out when he was stomping. Damien had a camoflouge survival knife to cut the guts out of the dog with. This statement was written by Det. Ridge at my request.

This statement was completed at 2:07 PM on the 14 day of June 1993.

HOLY CRAP...That was said by Jason's own cousin.  I think for me that makes it more believable. Of course now, watch...All over the supporters side..Jason's cousin said that because he hated Jason and Damien. He never hung out with them, and had nothing to do with them how would he know that Damien did that...

I will say that the parallels between Damien Echols and Roderick Ferrell get slimmer all the time.

But to draw connecting lines between their beliefs and personality issues isn't fair by a long shot of course.

I was being sarcastic.  But in reality, the State does have to be persuasive.  Otherwise the Defense wins and gets the petition granted. 

Lately I've been doing more prosecution/plaintiff work and I am seeing myself stray away from Defense work.  How this affects my view of the WM3 case remains to be seen.
