I have a horrible, sinking feeling that this horrid mocumentary is going to win an Oscar.
Hopefully I am wrong, but the Academy seems to like this kind of story. Those doing the voting will not have familiarised themselves with the facts of the case, so they won't know just how biased and untruthful it is.
I am in the middle of watching a fascinating doco right now. It's called Murder on a Sunday Morning. It's about this kid, Brenton Butler who was railroaded by incompetent cops and sent to trial for murdering a tourist in Jacksonville, Florida in 2000.
The difference with this case is the cops did no investigation, the kid was acquitted, the Sheriff apologised to him.
After it was all over, the three detectives on the case who admitted on the stand that they didn't do much investigating, were all transferred out of homicide. It was even put to a grand jury to see about charging them, but the grand jury declined.
The real killer was eventually tried.
This documentary won an Oscar. I fear PL3 will be viewed in the same vein. Again, I truly hope to God I am wrong. It will make me sick to my stomach if it wins and glorifies those three killers any further.
