Do you think Damien was faking in his letters to Shettles?
<sigh>

Once again... Since Echols complained of halicunations since childhood, let's assume that I don't.

Or do you just think it was an "odd" thing to correspond about?

<sigh>

Once again.... Seems to me that were he innocent he would have used those communications to express his fears of prison and an uncertain future, rather than sharing his nocturnal adventures with Rosey, and his utter disgust of humanity.

I read for myself.

Then why did I just have to repeat answers from two previous posts in this very thread?

If you simply don't LIKE the answers, then say so.... that would be better than letting folks think you just didn't bother reading them.

OK, I will assume you don't think he was faking in his letters to Shettles.  You just think he should have chosen a more appropriate topic to talk about at the time.  Got it...

I was just trying to figure out wtf your point was.  Doesn't make sense in reply to the question I asked TJM, but oh well.

So tell us.... why would an innocent Echols be outlining his mental health problems to his Defense team whilst sitting in jail awating trial unless he was "trying to look all mental"?

Doesn't make sense in reply to the question I asked TJM, but oh well

You asked when Echols tried to "look all mental".

I said in his letters to Shettles.

If Damien was not faking in his letters to Shettles, then he must not have been pretending.  Right?  Either he was faking, or he wasn't.  I am beginning to think we are arguing about different topics now, cause that's just obvious.

Right.

I think you are being deliberately obtuse.

Susan Atkins bragged to Howard about the Tate/LaBianca Murders.

She was trying to look all psycho.

She wasn't faking.

Never obtuse deliberately, but sometimes obtuse, I'm sure.

Maybe TJM meant what you are arguing he/she meant.  I didn't take it that way.  Hard to tell if I'm obtuse or not when you're telling me what he/she meant though.

It seems like maybe you simply can't bring yourself to aknowledge that Echols was trying to look all mental to Shettles?

"Trying..."  I suppose you're the one who can divine his motivation when he wrote the letters, so you tell me.  Personally, I'm not sure he was going after the insanity plea when he wrote them.  I guess you (and TJM?) do though?

I've noticed that when you don't have a rational explaination for someone's actions, those actions become meaningless to you.

It's ok.... I understand completly.

You don't understand at all.  That's just your attempt to put me off by being patronizing.

Well, let's see....

I asked you why Misskelley would maintain his guilt to his attorney.

"I don't know, and I don't care."

I asked why Echols would tell his Defense about his illness.

"I don't know, and I don't care"

What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?

"I don't know, and I don't care"

Patronize me all you want, Farm.  You may be bright, but you're not smart enough to pull that off.

I never said I don't care.  I just didn't pretend to divine the motivations of people I don't know.

Why did Misskelley maintain his guilt to his attorney?

"I know for sure, and I'll pretend to tell you."

Why did Echols tell his Defense about his illness?

"I know for sure, and I'll pretend to tell you."

What's the difference between knowledge and arrogance?

"I know for sure, and I'll pretend to tell you."

You don't have a problem with it when it suits you?

Well, just a few posts ago you "divined" the motivation for Misskelley's initial statement as coercion from his interrogators, despite the fact that Misskelley flatly denied this.
