I was going to search Callahans for this but couldn't figure out how to refine my search term so I didn't end up with a thousand pages to wade through. Feel free to point me to the right document at Callahans if you'd like.

So, aside from his clothing and musical tastes (haha), what led police to suspect Damien to begin with?

http://callahan.8k.com/wm3/dwe.html

My guess would be him playing cat and mouse with the cops.

BTW,it wasn't because he listened to metallica or wore black.

Welcome to the board.  :)

I was being sarcastic with the music and clothing comment.  >:D I think even if I were a supporter I'd find that ridiculous.

Thanks for the link.  :)

I read that but am still wondering why they brought him to begin with. Did someone tip them off to something he'd been saying? I have some vague memory of someone else (not Jesse obviously) suggesting they talk to Damien but I could just be confused.

By the way, I'm not a supporter at all and am not trying to find a reason why "poor Damien" was being "picked on." I'm just curious about how they zeroed in on the right person so quickly even though he wasn't considered a suspect at first.

Interesting. I didn't know he failed a polygraph. I do think he was enjoying toying with the cops by telling the truth through his theorizing. Eric Harris (Columbine killer) did the same type of thing.

No, no hard feelings. I thought it was hilarious, lol.

I think the third shooter theory is bogus and just mistaken identity. Eric originally approached the school wearing his trench then took it off and that's where all those eye witness accounts came from. Dylan also took his trench off in the library, but that may have been right before they committed suicide. I'd have to look that one up to be sure. The guy on the roof was simply some poor repair guy caught up in the drama.

^^that, coupled with his extensive medical records(http://callahan.8k.com/wm3/img/exh500.html) warranted an investigation into Damien's actions on May 5, 1993.

When the bodies of the victims were first found,I believe that Damien's probation officer Jerry Driver said that the crime had some occult overtones and it "looked like Damien finally killed someone" to an investigating officer.

What supporters will not tell you is that the investigation didn't just focus in on St.Damien and the two Apostles....they questioned alot of people.

Alot of lies and alot of rumors were in this case from the very beginning and alot of supporters will use that to their advantage, and claim the three were railroaded but in reality....there were alot more suspicious people than Damien such as "King David" Samuel Beasley and a couple others I can't quite remember and am too lazy to look up.lol

I have to agree with you on the third shooter story being bogus, but there is so much crap on the web to support it,it almost sounds convincing.

Anyways you should check out http://www.callahan.8k.com/custom.html and read thru Misskelly's several confessions, trial transcripts, and all the things they left out of the mockumentaries.

Here's some tivia. Did you know that Jesse Misskelly confessed after he was convicted against his attorney's wishes. http://callahan.8k.com/wm3/jmfeb.html

Now tell me how do supporter's explain that away?

The quote is accurate, but I've seen nothing about any initial comment about "occult overtones".

One of the many false claims supporters tend to throw about is that Driver was "stalking" Echols.

As his probation officer, he was assigned by the court to monitor Echol's behavior years before the crime, If he were "out to get him" he could have easily violated him - revoking his probation - instead he recommended mental health treatment three times.

The fact is, Driver went out of his way to get Echol's the help he clearly needed.

Something his mother couldn't be bothered with.

Okay, I suspect the probation officer's comment was what I was thinking of and definitely looking for. Thanks.

RE: Third shooter. I know what you mean. It really wasn't until I was finishing up reading the thousands (whew!) of pages of released documents that I concluded there was no third shooter. Up until probably three quarters of the way through I continued to give it serious consideration. I think people just can't believe two teens could accomplish this while keeping it a secret for so long. In reality a lot of people knew a lot but failed to put all the puzzle pieces together.
