So, of course I have to post a college bball thread - it is almost mid-February, after all.  As always, I adore Duke.  If Mason Plumlee keeps coming along and Singler's shot starts falling with any consistency, I might be able to keep an eye on my Duke-wins March Madness pool this year for longer than usual (yes, I do always have a non-Duke-wins one too, of course - I do like to win money at times). Maybe this year, they'll win it for me though.

Other than Duke, I like Syracuse.  And Purdue.

Ohio State womens just smacked down Purdue's womans. :)

I'm totally a Big Ten girl. Go Bucks! I do have a soft sport for Gonzaga though - mostly because they always a wild card and knock people out of the brackets. :D

I have always liked Gonzaga, and I think Bouldin is amazing.  They don't televise the Buckeyes much around here, so I'm clueless on that topic.  Perhaps I should search ESPNU more often?

The women's game is harder... I mean, really, when is someone gonna kick the shit outta UConn (don't even get me started on Geno - lol)?

Where are you addict? I'm in Ohio and after football season Buckeye Basketball is the most important thing in the land here. Ohio loves it some sports.

I'm in VA. Things are dominated by the ACC and Big East here, at least when it comes to what gets televised.

Originally from NJ though, so I was happy to watch Rutgers knock off Georgetown!  Probably well before your time, but do you remember Chris Jent?  He played for Ohio State and was probably the best-known player to come out of my neck of the woods back in the day...

ETA: Of course, these days there's Andre Dawkins from Chesapeake, VA. I was so looking forward to seeing him play (a hop, skip and jump away) this year before he decided to graduate and head to Duke right away.

Virginia isn't too far from Ohio. I have family in Falls Church and Manassas and venture down there on occasion.

How very sweet of you to imply that I'm not way over the hill  :)

I was in college when Jent played for OSU. I have a friend who managed the Friday's Front Row in Houston when he won the championship with the Rockets in '94 (or somewhere around then). He was among the Rockets and Oilers players that frequented the place. Jent is with the Cavs coaching staff now. He is LeBron's bitch shooting coach.  ;D

Wasn't Dawkin's sister that was killed from Ohio? I vaguely remember hearing something about it. I tend to favor Duke, Wake Forest and BC in the ACC and Cincy in the Big East, although I generally like all the BE teams.

Chris Jent was a year ahead of me in the same league. He was fun to watch the couple times the guys played on different nights than us... he could definitely shoot the lights out. I didn't realize he's LeBron's shooting coach now... that's so cool.

Dawkins' sister was from Ohio. The fact that she died on the way to see him play is horrible; I don't know how someone would deal with that without it messing with their head. He's been getting a little more playing time the past few games after riding the bench for awhile, so maybe that's a good sign.

Here's hoping the Nebraska women can kick the shit out of UConn if they meet in the NCAAs, Goddess!  I have no real favorite this year - well other than anyone but UConn...

Aw, poor goddess... ;)  I knew they had a chance to get further than they have in years (which isn't really saying much), but I never honestly thought they would win it all.  I'm fucking thrilled they did, though. What do you have against Coach K? He puts together teams, year in and year out, that work together, play hard, aren't facing charges and actually go to class and graduate at a much higher rate than probably any other team with his winning percentage. If you ask me, he deserves a medal for that. Another medal, that is... he's already got a gold one. :p

I didn't see that game, Goddess, but I did hear the news during the Duke game and was disappointed. I so wish they had broken UConn's streak - I hate Geno Auriemma (little bitch boy) -- have since I worked a basketball camp at UConn for a week during college. Just the way he walks makes me want to kick him.  >:D

I'll keep an eye out for Baylor being televised, cause I'd like to see them play.
