It is possible he was referring to Jessie's confession, but does not seem likely considering it is a seemingly inconsequential detail of the confession and not something Echols likely would've keyed in on.

I would like to know when Echols had the opportunity to hear the 2/17 prior to his comment?

Was Hutcheson ever arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  In the scope of things at the time, it maybe irrelevant, but I believe that any parent doing that for their kid is totally irresponsible.

It can be interpreted to mean he didn't want beer if he was let go, but whiskey. After going through that hell, beer wouldn't be strong enough for me, either. It sounds like he says "No more beer, whiskey."
